DEEP?!?!

A part of everyday life is involved with the arts; whether it be movies, books, a picture, etc. This art brings alive more then we may sometimes realize, take the last movie you watched, it may well be interpreted to be something that you may not have seen before. Me, one of the movies i was recently introduced to was groundhog day; now I am a huge sucker for romantic comedies, so naturally i absolutely adored the movie. But a discussion afterwards allowed me to see a picture i did not pay attention to and did not realize was there. This is what i call deep, the deeper meaning of something something we may not see until someone else points it out to us, yet it is always there. This deeper meaning could really reveal anything, in groundhog day it reveals peoples reactions, and the type of behaviors that many people exhibit everyday, something i really didn't see because i was too caught up in the romantic comedy to see until the discussion began.
The deeper meaning in art is an excellent way of learning something new through different perspective. Through movies and visual aids, it is often more useful and more knowledge can be attained because learning visually is a more common way of knowledge and up on the big screen is more likely to grab someones attention( especially a teenagers) then reading a boring book for a month on psychology. Through-out much of our childhood and all through our lives we are told that too much TV and movies damages the brain and ruins our bodies; when in fact many TV shows and movies have deeper underlying messages that are meant to stimulate the mind and are there to help understand. Many children's novels are filled with morals to help parents install these values in their children while helping them learn to read at the same time. This is one of the more common examples of this deeper intellect that many people are aware of, but not many are aware of this in some of the movies they watch. For example how many people see Harry Potter as displaying the racism and harsh judgements that occur in everyday life including in the harsh world of high school.
TV and movies allow people into a world they may not know, or even knew existed. Say growing up you were the most popular kid in school, maybe even labelled most liked or amazing jock; later on when you grew up and watched a show on the hardships and suicides that take place in schools everyday, your eyes may be opened up into a world unknown to you. This visual aid allows people to learn about something totally new or just to give a different perspective. Whichever the case may be we are truly able to learn from the arts and sometimes even better. This is something to think of the next time you sit down to watch a movie or your favorite show,(even if you think you know everything about that form of art there may be something lurking there) "Am i learning something?"........Well are you?!?!

And that's my thoughts;
